STEVE ROYES
APA Titled Sports Physiotherapist
Graduating from the University of Melbourne with Honours in 1997, Steve has worked in Melbourne, Vancouver (Canada) and most recently in the Port Stephens region. Steve completed a Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University, with a special commendation for “Excellence in Professional Development” and went on to complete his Masters of Sports Physiotherapy, earning him the Title of Sports Physiotherapist.
Steve has elite sports experience in AFL, as well as having travelled to the USA to learn at the Howard Head Sports Medicine Center in Vail Colorado. He also completed the APA Level 3 Sports Course at the Australian Institute of Sport complementing over 20 years of working in community sports.
Steve also has extensive experience in manual therapy and occupational physiotherapy, being one of the original Victorian Work Cover/TAC participants in the Occupational Physiotherapy program. He has provided Return to Work and Work Conditioning programs in Vancouver. Additionally, Steve has undergone training in Functional Capacity Evaluation (WorkHab) and chronic pain management (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for chronic pain) and pain management modules provided by Noi Group.
Steve has completed over 45 professional development courses, as well as numerous lectures/forums, across sports and manual therapy topics within physiotherapy and sports medicine. Topics include Balance and Vestibular Physiotherapy, Latimer approach to TMJ, dry needling and many more.
EMMA COGHLAN
Emma Coghlan graduated from her masters of physiotherapy from the University of Sydney in 2013 after completing a Masters of Exercise and Sports Science and Bachelor of Exercise and Sport science. Emma worked as a Physiotherapist in the Canberra area before moving to the Port Stephens region in 2016.
As well as being a Physiotherapist Emma is also an Exercise Physiologist and has her certification in DMA clinical Pilates. She uses manual therapies, dry needling and exercised based rehabilitation during her treatments to prevent and recover from sporting injuries.
Emma has previously represented NSW in Indoor netball and continues to play high level Netball in Newcastle.
AMY WINTER
Amy completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Newcastle in 2014. She has worked in the private practice setting since where she has treated a variety of cases and conditions.
Amy has completed her Level 1 Certificate in the management and treatment of Lymphoedema in Sydney in 2015. She is very passionate about assisting those who struggle with persistent swelling, especially those after breast cancer surgery. She also enjoys helping those who are post mastectomy return to full function and every day activity.
Amy also has An interest in casting, post-operative rehabilitation, sports injuries, and working with children especially those who may have a disability.
SARA HURLEY
Sara is a graduate of Macquarie University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy program but also holds a B.Sc.(Hons) Sports Studies (Exercise Science), M.Sc. Sports Science (Fitness and Health) as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She is a confident rehabilitation physio who has also worked as a remedial massage therapist. Suffice to say Sara possesses a combination of good manual therapy skills and a passion for health.
Sara has experience in rehabilitation, including Aged Care and post-surgical care, as well as a passion for movement and biomechanics. Her background in education helps Sara educate her patients about their health and how they can achieve the best outcomes. She has a caring approach to people generally and is a consistent participant in community sports be that playing sport herself or with her very active sporting family.
