Neck Pain

Neck pain is a common problem and can be caused by postural strain, lifting strain, acute wry neck and whiplash.  Symptoms can include head, neck and shoulderblade pain and sometimes arm pain, pins and needles and numbness.  Sometimes dizziness is caused by neck problems.

Treating neck pain effectively requires treating the underlying causes as well as managing any neurological problems.  Quick hint – postural strain can cause problems as well as making new strains more painful.  To help alleviate neck problems, addressing postural problems is a great way to take pressure of muscles and joints.

Treatment for neck pain, aside from posture correction, often includes massage, stretching, mobilising and dry needling to loosen tight structures.  Exercises for posture correction, upper body strength and deep neck muscles are also often prescribed.
